Alan Leonard Berndt age 74, died Friday morning, September 9, 2016 in his New Bavaria home surrounded by family.
His Legacy… He was born November 19, 1941 to William “Bill” and Dorothy (Giesige) Berndt in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Milwaukee Technology High School. He served in the United States Air Force from May 21, 1962 until May 20, 1966. Alan was a truck driver for Consolidated Transport, retiring in 2000 . On September 8, 1973 he married Lois Jane Taylor.
His Family… He is survived by his wife Jane; stepchildren, Karen (Buryl) Clifford, Antwerp, Lee (Cathy) Taylor, Hicksville, Ed “Bill” (Vicki) Taylor, Hicksville, Wayne Taylor, New Bavaria, and David Taylor, New Bavaria; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson to be born in January. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7 pm in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate. The Celebration of Alan’s life will be in the funeral home on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sam Andres officiating. Burial will be private. Contributions made in Alan’s memory can be made to the American Red Cross or Putnam County Hospice.
