Bill Sager, a caring husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025 at the age of 86. He was born in Hamler, Ohio on July 24, 1938 where he spent his early years cultivating a spirit of fun and hard work that would follow him throughout his life.

Bill's educational journey began with his graduation from Hamler High School, followed by a two year degree in accounting study at the International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His dedication to learning laid a strong foundation for a successful career in accounting and later, as a credit manager for Zeller Corp in Defiance, Ohio and then for Power Train Components in Bryan, Ohio before retiring in 2003. Throughout the years, he could always be found building relationships and forming connections within the community, sharing his friendly personality and the spirit of camaraderie.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Bill proudly served in the Army Reserves and as a Holgate Volunteer Fireman, always carrying that sense of duty and responsibility with him. His time of service and volunteerism instilled values that he carried into his family life, demonstrating the importance of hard work, resilience, and community.

Bill was known for his fun-loving nature. Some of his favorite activities involved having morning coffee and playing cards at Sager's bar or meeting friends at the Defiance McDonalds for breakfast. Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was riding his bike around town or gathering the latest Holgate news to share with friends and family. When not out and about, he spent countless hours on projects utilizing his skills at woodworking or making equipment repairs. He also liked to garden and took pride in growing massive tomato plants. These moments were treasures in his heart, and he cherished them dearly.

His journey, however, faced challenges in later years as he entered a period of slow decline from health-related issues. Through it all, Bill remained surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandy Sager, as well as his children: Mike, Greg (Teresa), and Connie. He found delight in being a grandparent to his granddaughter Charly and grandson Sam, who brought great joy into his life.

He is also survived by his siblings, Don Sager and Marge Smith, who shared countless memories with him throughout the years. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Mabel Sager, who welcomed him into this world, and his sisters, Helen Schwiebert Kohn and June Sager.
