Bonita Jean (Knapp) Helberg
September 30, 1924 — August 21, 2015
Bonita Jean Helberg age 90, of Holgate passed away early Friday morning, August 21, 2015 at the Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.
Her Legacy… “Bonnie” was born to the late Orville and Beulah (Cummins) Knapp on September 30, 1924. She was baptized, confirmed and faithful member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate. On December 12, 1942, she married Robert Helberg who preceded her in death in 2011. Bonnie was a devoted Christian, farm wife and mother. She was known for her piano playing, daily prayer and devotion to her Bible.
Her Family… She was loved by and sorely missed by her eight children who survive: Bob (Marian), Jr., Perry, FL, Barb Helberg, Napoleon, Bill (Elaine), New Bavaria, Brian (Cinda), Napoleon, Mary (Jim) McCafferty, McClure, Joe, Helena, AL, Cara Kirkum, McClure and Todd, Defiance; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren; and 9 step great grandchildren; brother James (Arlene) Knapp, Toledo and a sister-in-law Irene (Wilbur) Helberg, Bowling Green, OH. Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Natalie (Lawrence) Barnes and Beverly (John) Schlosser and a daughter-in-law Jennifer Helberg.
Her Farewell Services… Friends and family will be welcomed into the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Sunday from 2-6 pm and one hour before the funeral service. The celebration of Bonnie’s life will be in the funeral home on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 10:00 am with Reverend Greg Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Grelton Cemetery. Contributions made in Bonnie’s memory can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
