Dorothy Jean (Rettig) Myles

Dorothy Jean Myles, age 74, of Holgate died Saturday morning, May 24, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

Her Legacy… She was born on September 28, 1939 to Orville and Luella Ann (Nartker) Rettig in Napoleon. Luella Ann died when Dorothy was very young. Her father then married Florence Kurtz. Dorothy graduated from Malinta Grelton High School in 1957. On September 28, 1958 she married Larry Grant Myles. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2008. She was a nurse. Over the years, she worked for the Defiance Clinic ER and Defiance Clinic Family Practice. She retired from the Filling Home of Mercy in Napoleon. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her Family… She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Sandra (Dave) Houck, Napoleon; sons, Michael (Theresa) Myles, New Bavaria and Jim (Jeanette) Myles, Holgate; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Lois) Rettig, Holgate, twin brother, Don (Lois) Rettig, Malinta and sisters, Charlotte (Bill) Wachtman, Napoleon, Peg (Carl) Rausch, Napoleon, Margery “Butch” (Jeff) Wallace, Liberty Center and Mary (Kit) Thompson, Napoleon.

Her Farewell Services… Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-5 and 6-8 pm in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate, and an hour prior to the service.   The Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Reverend Rob Johnson officiating.  Burial will be private.  Contributions made in Dorothy’s memory can be made to Defiance County Hospice or the Filling Home of Mercy.
