Dorothy Mae (Herr) Smith

Dorothy Smith 90, of Holgate, died Friday afternoon, June 22, 2018 at Vancrest of Holgate.

Her Legacy… She was born November 16, 1927 to John and Mamie (Harter) Herr.  On June 2, 1946 she married Virgil Smith.  Dorothy was a member of Emanuel Christian Church, New Bavaria.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking, and cooking.

Her Family… Dorothy is survived by her children: David Smith, Chicago, Dan (Sue) Smith, Holgate, Sharon (William) Barber, Wauseon, and Tom (Lynette) Smith, Holgate; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great granddaughter.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Virgil; daughter, Susan Schwartzengraber; son-in-law, Charles Schwartzengraber; brother, Robert Herr; sister, Norma Jean Stiriz; and infant brother Russell Herr.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate   on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 10:00 am until the celebration of her life at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Ayersville Cemetery.  Contributions made in Dorothy’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
