Edna E. (Meyer) Swihart

Edna Swihart age 102, of Holgate, died early Wednesday morning, July  24, 2013 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

Her Legacy… She was born September 9, 1910, in Deshler, to Karl “Charles” and Ida Meyer.  On February 26, 1938, she married Aaron Swihart.  He died on December 17, 1958.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate.  Edna was a member of the Helping Hands Quilting Group, Women of the ELCA, and enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Her Family… She is survived by daughters, Carol and Mary Swihart, both of Holgate, and 19 nieces and nephews and their families.  Edna was preceded in death by brothers: Fred, Rudy, and Herbert Meyer; and sisters: Luella Sunderman and Leona Phillips.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Friday from 2-8 and again one hour before the service at church.  The celebration of Edna’s life will be on Saturday, July 27 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate at 10:30 am with Reverend Rob Johnson and Reverend Tamara Wood officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  Contributions made in Edna’s memory can be made to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
