Elizabeth Rahmel
March 24, 1922 — September 3, 2012
Elizabeth Jane Rahmel age 90 of Napoleon and formerly of Holgate, died Monday morning, September 3, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon.
Her Legacy… She was born March 24, 1922 to Edward and Sophia (Fricke) Franzdorf in Defiance. In 1940 she graduated from Defiance High School. On November 1, 1942 she married Paul Herman Rahmel in Defiance. He preceded her in death in December 1996. Betty was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate.
Her Family… She is survived by her sons Jeff (Karen) Rahmel, Napoleon,and Steve (Karen) Rahmel, Grand Rapids, OH and daughters Rebecca (Charles) Ellis, St. Joe, IN and Rachel (Chris) Hanes, Olympia, WA; 13 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death a grandson Stevie and by all her siblings Ruth, Esther, Robert, Donelda, Virginia, Fredrich and Mildred.
Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and again 1 hour before the church service. The Celebration of Betty’s Life will be on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate with Reverend Lindsay Shaner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Contributions in Elizabeth’s memory can be made to Bev Holloway, an STNA of the Lutheran Home to help pay for her medical expenses.
