Fermin Bentancur age 92, of Holgate, died Thursday morning at the Mercy Defiance Hospital.
His Legacy… He was born September 24, 1925 to Francisco and Patricia (Garza) Bentancur in Wharton, TX. On November 20, 1952 he married Janie Bryant. Fermin was a laborer for 30 years at the GM plant in Defiance.
His Family… Fermin is survived by his wife Janie of 65 years; children: Mary (Lupe) Bentancur-Lopez, Holgate, Daniel Bentancur, Ayersville, Marie (Tim) Cantu, Defiance, Michela (Jose) Hinojosa, Lima, Jessie (Laura) Bentancur, Saginaw, MI, and Marianne (Zaragosa) Sanchez, Edmond, OK; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren. Fermin was preceded in death by a son Joe Louis Bentancur and brothers: Reyes, Juan, Zaragosa, and Santos sisters: Gabriela and Juana.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received on Monday from 3-7 pm in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate and again on Tuesday at 10:00 am. The celebration of Fermin’s life will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Tijerina officiating. Burial will follow in Grelton Cemetery.
