Franklin L. Ordway

Frank L. Ordway age 78, of Holgate, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Mercy Health, Perrysburg. 

His Legacy… Frank was born June 17, 1945 to Chet and Dorothy (Eitzman) Ordway in Defiance.  He married Nita Jo Youmans on February 4, 1964 in Defiance.  Frank was employed with General Motors, Defiance for 44 years, retiring in 2008.  He received his business degree from Northwest State Community College.  Frank wore many “Holgate hats”.  He was a member of the Holgate Community Church. He was the village’s mayor for years.  He was very involved with the school system; from the new school build, to the construction of the baseball field, to selling 50/50 raffle.  How many of you bought an “arm’s length” from Frank?  He enjoyed playing golf and fishing (especially in Texas and Michigan).

His Family… He is survived by his loving wife Jo, daughters: Sherrie Johnston, Holgate, April (Joe) Sonnenberg, Findlay and Amy (Brian) Baker, Ottawa; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and brothers: Bob Ordway and Doug Ordway.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mike and Ted.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Holgate Community Church on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 2-8:00 pm.  Everyone is encouraged to wear purple and gold.  The Celebration of Frank’s life will be on Saturday in the church at 11:00 am with Pastor Diane Simon officiating.  Contributi0ns in Frank’s memory can be made to:  Holgate Local Schools, Holgate Athletic Boosters or the Holgate Community Church.
