Gary Lee LaVoy, Jr.

Gary Lee LaVoy, Jr. age 30, of Holgate was tragically killed in a motor vehicle crash on May 15, 2017.

His Legacy… He was born March 3, 1987 to Gary LaVoy, Sr. and Diana Rouiller in Toledo.  He graduated from Holgate High School in 2005.  Gary received his Associates degree from Owens Community College.  He was an electrician for Lake Erie Electric and belonged to IBEW Local 8, Toledo and he was taking classes to complete his apprenticeship.  On August 10, 2013 he married Chelsi Brown in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Defiance.  Gary served as a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Holgate for 7 years and was an avid Toledo Walleye Hockey fan.

Gary is survived by his bride, Chelsi and two children, 2 year old Emma and 4 month old Austin. Also surviving is his mother Diana Rouiller, Napoleon, a sister Jessica (Ben) LaVoy, Wauseon, a brother Kyle (Chey) Oleski, Napoleon grandparents Jim and Lou Rouiller, Mesa, AZ and Mae LaVoy, Erie, MI and nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his grandfather Richard LaVoy and uncles, Willy Majors and Ron LaVoy.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Holgate.  Contributions made in Gary’s memory can be made to his children, Emma and Austin.
