Helen L. Brown, age 93, of Holgate, died Thursday evening at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.
Her legacy…Helen was born May 27, 1920 to Herman and Leanna (Cramer) Kline, in Holgate. On July 29, 1939, she married Leorell “Dutch” Brown who passed away in September of 1979. Helen was employed by Holgate Local Schools as a cook for over 30 years, and also worked at Campbell’s. She was a long time member of Holgate United Methodist Church, New Bavaria VFW Ladies Auxilary, and a volunteer at Vancrest Healthcare Center.
Her family…is survived by her children Julie Brown, Holgate, Joe (Nancy) Brown, Holgate, Rose Archambeault, Holgate; daughter-in-law Mary Brown, Holgate; 12 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; son Jim Brown; grandson Tom Brown; brother Ray Kline; sisters Margaret Fauver and Mary Burkhart.
Her farewell services…Visitation will be Sunday, January 19 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate. Services are Monday, January 20 at 11:30am at the Holgate United Methodist Church, with Reverend Susan St. Peter officiating. Helen will lie in state from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Holgate United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
