Herbert Baden age 82, of Holgate, died Saturday morning, February 23, 2013 at the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Care Center.
He was born October 10, 1930 to Albert and Alvina Baden. Herb graduated from Holgate High School in 1948. He served in the Army and National Guard from 1951 to 1954. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hamler. Herb enjoyed gardening, farming, working with livestock, and bowling. He was also a member of the New Bavaria VFW.
He is survived by sons, Terry, of Napoleon, Tim (Cindy) of Continental; daughters, Cheryl Hohenbrink, Leipsic, Kathy (Bill) Martin, Gibsonburg, and Karen (Gary) Oberlin, Defiance; ten grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Lorena Oberhaus, Holgate; and special friend, Arlene McDougle. Herb was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Oberhaus; two infant sons; and son-in-law, Tony Hohenbrink.
Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Monday from 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service. The Celebration of Herb’s life will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Zachrich Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Holgate.
