James Milton Myles, fondly known as Jim, departed this life November 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories. Born on October 30, 1964, in Defiance, Ohio, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He graduated from Holgate High School in 1983, later obtaining his Associates Degree in diesel mechanics—a testament to his dedication and hard work.
For 24 remarkable years, Jim served as a loader operator at Custer Stone, working with the Gerken Companies, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and positive demeanor. Throughout his life, Jim was deeply committed to his family. He was a fun-loving man who found profound joy in the simplest of pleasures, especially spending treasured moments with his four grandchildren—Brantley, Ivory, Makenzie, and Wyatt. They were a source of immense pride and happiness for him, and his face would light up each time he was in their presence.
Jim's service to his community extended beyond his work; he proudly served in the Army National Guard, showcasing his dedication to both his country and his family. His warmth and kindness made a lasting impact on those around him. He cherished every hunting trip and outdoor adventure, appreciating time spent with loved ones in nature.
He leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss him. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanette (Klear) Myles; his son, Travis (Brooke Lloyd) Myles, Defiance; his daughter, Marissa (Brandon) Wiechers, Defiance; his sister, Sandra (Dave) Houck, Napoleon; and his brother, Michael (Theresa) Myles, Holgate. The love they all shared for Jim will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Jim was also preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Dorothy (Rettig) Myles, who surely welcomed him with open arms. As the family navigates this time of sorrow, they find solace in the beautiful memories that will always remain.
There will be visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, allowing everyone to pay their respects and celebrate the vibrant life Jim lived. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 10:30 AM at the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate with Father Nick Cunningham officiating.
