Jose Maria Santos, Jr.

Jose M. Santos, Jr. “Chema”, age 87, formerly of Holgate died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI.
His Legacy… He was born November 3, 1925 to Jose M. and Bridgetta (Herrera) Santos Sr. in Poteet, TX. On September 16, 1944 Jose married Eva (Lozano) in Poteet, TX. Jose was employed for 35 years at GM Foundry, Defiance and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holgate.
His Family… Jose is survived by his loving family: Rudy (Cathy) Santos, Lima; Bertha (Joe) Belmares, La Feria, TX; Jerry Santos, Defiance; and Laura (Jessie) Bentancur, Saginaw, MI; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brothers Lupe Santos, Antwerp, Joe Santos, Ft. Wayne, IN, Everette Santos, Findlay, and sisters Mary “Louisa” Gill, Holgate and Linda Castillo, Celina. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva, October 19, 2000, grandsons, Michael Santos and Rene Belmares, and siblings Ruben Santos, Rojelio Santos, Jesse Santos, Elviria Flores, Beatrice Barrera, and Corina Luna.
His Farewell Services… Family and friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Wednesday from 2-5 and 6-8 pm, with a rosary service to be held at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Holgate with Father Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will be in the Grelton Cemetery, Grelton, OH. Contributions can be made in Chema’s memory to his family.
