Lester Marion Hoellrich age 89, of Holgate, died Monday morning January 6, 2014 at Vancrest Healthcare center of Holgate.
His Legacy… He was born July 19, 1924 to Elmer and Leona (Eding) Hoellrich in Pleasant Bend. Lester was in the U.S. Army. Having been injured in WWII, he was awarded the Purple Heart. On March 15, 1947, he married Lavina M. Lero. He was a farmer and formerly employed with Johns Manville and its Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Emanuel's Christian Church, New Bavaria. Lester also belonged to the American Legion, DAV, Defiance and the AMVETS in New Bavaria.
His Family… He is survived by his wife Lavina of 66 years; sons, David (Jackie) Hoellrich, Defiance and Dan (Diane) Hoellrich, Holgate; daughter, Connie Dunn, Defiance; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Lowell Hoellrich, Napoleon and a sister, Marge Hoellrich, Holgate. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin Hoellrich, Art Hoellrich and Shirley Gardener.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and again 1 hour before the church service. The Celebration of Lester’s life will be on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 am in Emanuel’s Christian Church, New Bavaria with Reverend Ed Briggeman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, rural Defiance. Contributions made in Lester’s memory can be made to Emanuel's Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
