Letcher “Buss” Carico age 89, of Holgate, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Defiance In-patient Hospice Center surrounded by family.
His Legacy… He was born June 21, 1929 to Logan S. and Mary E. (Tate) Carico in Coeburn, VA. On November 2, 1950 he joined the Army and fought in the Korean Conflict. Five months after returning, Buss married Roberta Gale Greear. He was employed with Campbell Soup Company for 32 years and was a supervisor in later years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holgate and the Holgate American Legion. Buss enjoyed birds! Watching them and feeding them. He enjoyed both the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs. Buss loved his church and was thrilled to sing in the choir. He was the treasurer and trustee that was instrumental in keeping the church open. They were always in the vegetable garden and anything could be fixed with Duct tape!
His Family… He is survived by children: Ronald (Karla) Carico, Liberty Center, Linda Farison, Defiance, Vickie Carico, Defiance, Michael (Mindy) Carico, Defiance, and Shelly Szabo, Defiance; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Gale, siblings: Leon Carico, Bill Carico, Vera Buchanan, Mary Bell Carico and an infant brother Kermit Carico.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the First Baptist Church, 448 S. Keyser Street, Holgate on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and again one hour before the service. His celebration of life will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastors Charles Alley and Irl Grundy officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Township Cemetery, 16C, Holgate with military honors. Contributions made in Letcher’s memory can be made to the First Baptist Church, Holgate.
