Lois Rettig

January 12, 1937 — June 25, 2020

Lois A. Rettig, age 83 of Holgate, died Thursday morning, June 25, 2020 at the Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center.

Her Legacy… She was born January 12, 1937 to Eldor and Rufina (Helberg) Norden in Ridgeville Corners.  She is a 1955 graduate of Jewell High School.  She went on to Detwiller Hospital Training.  She was an LPN at Dettwiller Manor, Wauseon, the former Pleasant Manor (Vancrest of Holgate), Northcrest Nursing Home, Napoleon and the Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.  Lois married Robert “Bob” Rettig in 1960.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate, helped with many funeral dinners and with the Henry County food distribution.  Lois volunteered her time with Christmas Cheer and Henry County Home Care.

Her Family… She is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Todd (Paula) Rettig, Napoleon and Kelly Jo (Gary) Syllaba, Reading, MI; 5 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and siblings: Ronnie Norden, Defiance, Diane Wendt, Ridgeville, Sue McCulley, Napoleon and Eugene Norden, Michigan.  She was preceded in death by her sister Joann Miller and a brother Weldon Norden.

Her Farewell Services... Friends will be received Sunday, June 28, 2020 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 pm.  Due to health concerns; a mask is required, social distancing is encouraged and the number of visitors will be regulated at any given time for admittance into the church.  Contributions in memory of Lois Rettig can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s    Association.
