Martha M. (Rettig) Zimmer

Martha M. Zimmer age 87, of Napoleon, died Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017 at Genacross Lutheran Services, Napoleon.
Her Legacy… She was born August 8, 1930 to Richard and Matilda (Arps) Rettig in Holgate. On July 27, 1954, she married Bernard “Barney” Zimmer. Martha was a homemaker but for 5 or 6 years, she worked at Hahn’s Clothing store. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Holgate, former Sunday school teacher, member of Mayflower Circle and was a secretary for the Holgate Music Boosters.
Her Family… Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her loyal husband Bernard of 63 years; son, Scott (Nancy) Zimmer, Napoleon; daughter, Krista (Robert) Lawson, Napoleon; and three granddaughters: Ashley (Taylor) Moyer, Rachel Lawson and Sydney Lawson. Martha was preceded in death by her brother Burnell “Barney” Rettig in July of this year.
Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Thursday from 2-5 and 6-8 pm and again 1 hour before the service at church. The celebration of Martha’s life will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. John’s United Church of Christ with Reverend David Orr officiating.
