Michael Corbitt Ankney passed away from us to Heaven on the morning of Friday, January 16, 2015 as a result of a traffic accident near Ann Arbor, MI. Michael was born in Defiance, Ohio on October 6, 1969 to James and Margaret (Shock) Ankney. Michael spent most of his childhood growing up in the country near Pleasant Bend. Michael completed his Lutheran studies, was baptized in, and was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, rural Defiance. Michael was a 1989 graduate of Ayersville High School. Michael attended New York University and many universities throughout the United States for study and employment.
Michael was a highly intelligent, kind, and compassionate man of a genuinely altruistic philosophy of life. He was always willing and often gave the shirt keeping him warm, to the homeless needy in the streets of the United States. Michael was always eagerly willing to share their hardship of abuse, misrepresentation, and concealment. Leaving Buffalo, NY in the mid – 1990s, Michael moved about for the rest of his life, living in Honolulu for many years, San Diego, Phoenix, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, Puerto Rico, and more. His family and friends do pray thankful for having known him for this time of their lives.
Sadly missed always, Michael is survived by his parents, James and Ruth (Zachrich) Ankney, Holgate, and Margaret Edwards, Mexico; brothers, Martin, Cincinnati, and Dylan (Jen) Escondido, California; sister, Arionna Ankney , San Diego; great aunts and uncles; aunts and uncles; nieces; nephews; and loving cousins. Michael is preceded in passing by his brother, James D. Ankney; grandparents, Simon and Violet (Goodwin) Ankney, Earl and Alice (McGuin) Shock, Eugene and Erma (Grossman) Zachrich; and uncle Thomas Ankney.
There will be only private services. The family is planning a memorial gathering later in the year. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery. The Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate (419 264 0600) is handling the arrangements. The family asks that any memorial contributions be directed to the Path Center.
