Perry Mansfield, Jr. age 86, of Holgate died early Friday morning, May 25, 2012 at the Toledo Hospital.
His Legacy… He was born January 22, 1926 to Perry and Sarah Frizell Mansfield, Sr. in Leipsic. Perry graciously served his country during WWII in the Navy. On August 27, 1947 he married Alverda Cohrs in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp. He was a maintenance mechanic at Campbell’s Soup Company for 34 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate was an usher and on church council. Perry was a member of the Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300. Perry enjoyed his horses as he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Ohio Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed yard work and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
His Family… He is survived by his loving wife Alverda of 64 years; daughters, Jacki (Stan) Mansfield Koziel, Orion Twp, MI, Nancy Bannister, Defiance and Vicki (Randy) Schwab, Napoleon; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Perry was preceded in death by his son Max Mansfield, sisters Edna Ellerbrock, Mabel Gorne and Norma Jean Delmont and brothers, Bob Mansfield, Howard Mansfield and Lawrence Mansfield.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate on Monday from 2-4 and 5-8 pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Celebration of Perry’s Life will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate with Pastor Tamara Wood. Burial will follow in Grelton Cemetery with military honors accorded by the joint veteran’s posts of Napoleon. Contributions can be made in Perry’s memory to a charity of your choice.
