Raymond P. Ohlrich, age 81, of Hamler passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2015 at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.
His Legacy… He was born August 20, 1933 to Arthur and Martha (Marsch) Ohlrich. Ray was a 1951 graduate of Deshler High School. On April 8, 1956 he married Luella Junge. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, formerly serving on church council, Sunday school superintendent and taught Sunday school, he was a life member of the Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters, formerly serving as president and treasurer. He also served many years on the Hamler EMS. He was employed with Automatic Feed for 45 years holding many positions. He served as Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for 25 plus years, having 25 Eagle Scouts, two grandsons and two nephews being four of the 25. He received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award for being a volunteer Scouter. After retirement he was a helping hand at Hastedt Family Greenhouse.
His Family… He is survived by his loving wife, Luella; children: Linda (William) Campbell, Toledo, Darlene (Andrew) Hoffman, Holgate and David Ohlrich, Hamler; three grandsons; six granddaughters; a sister, Wilma (Orville) Buenger, Hamler; a brother James (Diane) Ohlrich, Deshler and a daughter-in-law Bonnie Ohlrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cheryl and a son Allan.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and at the church from 10-11 am on Saturday. The Celebration of Ray’s life will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in Hope Lutheran Church with Reverend Keith Hunsinger officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Raymond’s memory can be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the Allan D. Ohlrich Scholarship.
