Robert L. Rettig

Robert Leroy Rettig 83 of Holgate passed away December 5, 2020 of covid 19 at Van Crest of Holgate, Ohio. He was born November 14, 1937 in Napoleon, Ohio to Orville and Luella Anna (Nartker) Rettig. He was a graduate of Malinta High School then went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy. Robert   married Lois Ann (Norden) on April 17,1960. After 60 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on June 25, 2020. Robert enjoyed farming and driving semi, but he was most proud of Rettig Family Pallets, Inc., the business he founded and ran for five decades in Holgate, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter Kelly (Gary) Syllaba of Reading, Michigan and son Todd (Paula) Rettig of Napoleon, Ohio, his five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Donald (Lois) Rettig of Malinta, Ohio, sisters Charlotte (William) Wachtman of Napoleon, Ohio, Butch (Jeff) Wallace of Liberty Center, Ohio, Peg (Carl) Rausch of Napoleon, Ohio, and Mary (Kermit) Thompson of Napoleon, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Florence (Kurtz) Rettig, his sister Dorothy Myles, brother-in-law Larry Myles, father-in-law Eldor Norden, mother-in-law Rufena (Helberg)Norden, brother-in-law Weldon Norden, brother-in-law Victor Miller, and sister-in-law Joan (Norden) Miller. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, there will be no service at this time, the family  hopes to have a memorial service this coming summer. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate, Ohio where he was a member, or to the Hospice of Putnam County, Ohio.
