Robert L. “Bob” Shultz died January 1, 2016 at Vancrest Health Care Center of Holgate.
His Legacy …. He was born February 15, 1938 to Walter and Florence (Ahrens) Shultz in Risingsun, Ohio. He attended Risingsun Elementary and High School. On May 15, 1971 he and Virginia Blackburn were married by her father, Reverend Ulmont Blackburn, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bob worshipped with Church of God congregations ministering to the youth, driving the church bus, and serving on the Board of Trustees. During his son’s school years, he was a Junior Baseball coach and assistant coach for the YMCA Flag Football and Basketball programs. He was a member of the Lions Club, Defiance YMCA, and Henry County Senior Center. He was employed by National Electrical Carbon Corporation for 32 years. After retirement, he worked for the Findlay Village Mall for more than a decade. Over the years, Bob enjoyed fishing with his brother, teasing his sister, attending his son’s high school basketball and soccer games, watching football with his family, talking daily on the phone with his nephew Butch, spending time with his brother-in-law Allen, and sharing jokes with everyone he met.
His Family … He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son: Michael (Laura) Shultz, Napoleon; sister-in-law June Weindel; and brothers-in-law George (Linda) Blackburn and Allen Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Paul (Betty) Shultz and Dorothy Schneider; and nieces and nephew Evelyn McKenzie and Ruth (Richard) Barringer.
His Farewell Services … It was Bob’s wish to be cremated and have a gathering of family and friends at Fostoria Fountain Cemetery in the Spring. Contributions made in his memory can be sent to Vancrest Health Care Center, 600 Joe E Brown Avenue, Holgate OH 43527.
