Roger Grim

Roger O. Grim, 81, passed away Monday, March 26th, 2018 at CHP Hospice Care, Defiance.  He was born on September 29th, 1936 to the late Otis and Tressa (Kinner) Grim.  He married Diana Damman on June 8th, 1963.  They lived on their family farm near Pleasant Bend.

Rog is survived by his wife of 54 years, a daughter, Susan (Tom) Dershem of Defiance and a son, David (Caroline) Grim of New Bavaria; four grandchildren – Danielle (Casey) Fuhrmann, Landon Grim, Mattie Grim, Jake Grim; two step grandchildren – Stephanie Dershem, Stacy (Matthew) Molnar; a step great-grandchild – Isaac Molnar, sister - Nancy (Charles) Baechler, brother – Gary (Linda) Grim: and a foster child – Sandy Simpkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters – Faye Herr and Jean VanAnda.

Rog attended Holgate Schools where he was active in several sports.  Upon graduation he attended Ohio State University and was a member of the Army Reserves.  He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.  Rog was a life-long farmer and was on the board of the Pleasant Bend Farmers Elevator.  He was involved at Holgate Schools both as a board member and as a Reserve Girls Basketball coach for several years.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and cheering on their teams.

Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio on Saturday, March 31st at 11:00am with Pastors Luhring presiding. Visitation will be at Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate, Ohio, Friday, March 30th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm and one hour before the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate High School Athletic Boosters or the CHP Hospice Care, Defiance.
