Ronald Parker Osborn age 82, of Holgate, died at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center Monday evening, January 7, 2013.
His Legacy… He was born July 31, 1930 to Parker John and Maud (Damon) Osborn in Holgate.  He enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corp his senior year of high school.  He was honorably discharged on October 3, 1953.  Upon his return to Henry County, he began working for the railroad.  He worked for Tenzer Lumber Company for 20 years, Vic Cohrs Construction for 4 years and Mel Lanzer Company for 19 years.  On June 8, 1957 he married Virginia Bauer in Emanuels Christian church, New Bavaria.  Ron enjoyed camping, traveling, and woodworking.  Ron was a member and commander of the William F. Helmke American Legion Post 340, life member of VFW Post 8847.  He was a member of Emanuels Christian Church, New Bavaria and deacon, elder and trustee.
His Family… he is survived by his loving wife Virginia of 55 years; sons, Michael (Vanessa) Osborn, Holgate and Gary (Joyce) Osborn, Lockport NY; daughter, Julie (Nick) Giesige, Holgate; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl, Aaron Elzy, William and Gene; sisters, Zora Marie Wilkens and Babe Mansfield; and son, Jeffrey.
His Funeral Farewell… Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-5 and 6-8 pm in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate and 1 hour before the service at church.  The celebration of Ron’s life will be in Emanuels Christian Church on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 am with Reverend Ed Briggeman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by joint Holgate and New Bavaria veterans posts.  Contributions made in Ron’s memory can be made to Emanuels Christian Church, Relay For Life, Henry County,  or Defiance Area inpatient Hospice Center.  Please visit www.ZachrichfuneralHome.com to leave online condolences.
