Ronnie Drewes, age 78, of Holgate, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2018 at the Henry County Hospital.
His Legacy … He was born January 29, 1940 to Fred and Laura (Meyer) Drewes in Napoleon. His life was spent in Henry County. He attended Florida school. On February 11, 1961 Ron married Sharon Hohenberger from Holgate. They shared 57 years together, raising three daughters. He was a truck driver for TemCole, Hornish Trucking, and Zachrich Trucking. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he was also an usher. For enjoyment, Ron’s passion was his horses. Ron and Sharon spent many vacations traveling with their horses. Friends from many different states were met while traveling and camping with their horses for trail riding. They were charter members of the Henry County Horseman's Council, and later members of the Fulton County Horseman's Council for many years.
His Family … He is survived by his loving wife; daughters, Denise (Roger) Gerschutz, Holgate, Connie Miller, Oregon, Ohio, and Sam Drewes Ryan, Carolina Beach, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Stacy (Calvin) Pruitt, Andy (Chelsea) Gerschutz, Jacob McGeroge, Macy McGeorge, Delanie Miller, Dalton Miller, Gates Ryan, Chloe Ryan, Dravis Ryan and Deke Ryan; 2 great-grandchildren, Kellen and Nyla Pruitt; and brothers, Weldon and Kenneth. Ronnie was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert, and his parents.
His Farewell Services … Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Monday, from 2-8pm. Everyone will be welcomed into St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon on Tuesday at 9:30 am with the Celebration of Life at 10:30 am with Reverend Pete Marcis and Reverend Logan Scheiwe officiating and. Burial will follow in Pleasant Township Cemetery, Road 16-C. Contributions made in Ronnie’s memory can be made to St. Paul’s First Fruits, Henry County Hospice, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
