Ruth Joann (Fenter) Vance

Ruth “Joann” Vance age 85, of Holgate and formally of Napoleon, died Sunday morning, October 16, 2022 surrounded by family at Vancrest of Holgate.

Her Legacy… She was a Christmas baby, born December 25, 1936 to Arthur and Mable (Smith) Fenter at home in Holgate.  She attended Holgate School for 8 years and the last 4 at Hamler High School.  She married Herbert Vance on June 30, 1957. She married Walter Burill on November 27, 1969.  Joann retired from SK Wayne Tool Company, Defiance.  She worked at the Napoleon Walmart, Napoleon Holiday Inn, Northwest Telephone Company, Napoleon Public Library, the Lutheran Nursing Home and the Henry County Senior Center.  She also served Meals on Wheels.  She was a member of the Holgate United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was in the United Methodist Women’s group.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Red Hats and gathered monthly with friends from the class of 1954.

Her Family… She is survived by her children: Randy (Mary) Vance, Malinta, Julie (Jim) Stout, West Union, OH and David (Megan) Burill, Napoleon; 4 grandchildren: Frankie Medina, Jessica Burling, Kora and Peyton Burill; 5 great grandchildren: Mackenzye Syck, Alyson and Melissa Burling and Omri and Olive Medina and a brother Neal Fenter, Columbus, GA.  She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Wednesday from 2-7:00 pm and 1 hour before the funeral service.  The Celebration of Joann’s Life will be in the funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022.  Joann asked that contributions in her memory, be made to the Holgate United Methodist Church or the Henry County Senior Center.
