Samuel Medina, Sr. 45, of Hamler passed away peacefully on May 21, 2021 at The OSU Richard Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus. He was born May 11, 1976 to Juan Medina, Jr. and Irma (Quintero) Medina in Defiance. Sam graduated from Holgate High School in 1995. He worked at Campbell’s Soup Company, attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served on the Holgate Volunteer Fire Department as a fireman and first responder. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bulls and Da Bears! He coached Little League Baseball for a number of years and was known for his love of music.
Sam is survived by his children: Samuel Medina, Jr. and Austin Medina, Holgate, his mother, Irma, Hamler and his brother John (Tamara) Medina, III and family of Danville, IL. Preceding Sam in death were his dad, niece, aunt and uncles.
Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Monday from 4-7:00 pm and 1 hour before the church service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Holgate on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
