Sheila Delilah Phillips age 72, of McClure, gained her wings early Thursday morning, September 5th, 2024 at the Henry County Hospital.
Sheila’s adventure began on July 28th, 1952 born to Smith and Ruby (Dukes) Hurley in Pineville, WV. Her childhood was spent closely with her family. Sheila graduated from Defiance High School and only held one job her entire life, as a relief operator for Campbell Soup, in Napoleon. Having worked for 37 years, she retired in 2014. Her coworkers at Campbell’s were an extension of her family and she loved them all dearly.
Sheila was an ornery one, full of love, smiles, laughter and always having special treats for anyone she was going to see. She was an avid lover of Dr. Pepper, Elvis, Stand Up Comedy (always quoting Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Gallagher), General Hospital, 80s and 90s action movies and never turned down a scratch off lottery ticket. But her real passion in life was her family. She loved to play card games, cook, bake and drive all around Northwest OH visiting her family and sharing a southern homecooked meal. She was known as “Nana Looney” to her grandchildren, which was the perfect fit for her humorous nature. If she could put a smile on your face and good food in your belly, she knew she had taken care of you.
Sheila is survived by her life companion, Al Rohda, McClure, children: Chad (Bridgit) Phillips of Findlay, Shelby Phillips (Mathew Smelser) of Bowling Green, Michael (Amy) Rohda of Berkley, Angie (Mark) Vandenberghe of Napoleon; siblings: Herb (Martha) Hurley of Canton, Smith (Judy) Hurley of Continental, Larry (Kelly) Hurley of Ottawa, Brian (Dana) Dukes of Leipsic, Bruce (Dianne) Dukes of Continental, Sandy Dukes of Bryan, Helen (Kenny) Hall of Defiance; her beloved grandchildren: Katlynn Phillips, Nicholas Phillips, Maxton Smelser, Paige Rohda, Emily Vandenberghe and Mason Vandenberghe along with many nieces and nephews whom each held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents Smith Hurley, Ruby and Edwin Dukes, along with her brothers Jimmy Hurley and Duane Dukes.
