Steven "Townsie" Reeder Allen, a dedicated retired truck driver, embarked on his final journey on April 10, 2024, in Toledo. Born on August 22, 1955, Townsie was a proud Army veteran and a graduate of Otsego High School's class of 1973.
Throughout his life, Townsie found solace in the open road and the gentle rhythm of trucking. He traversed countless miles with unwavering dedication, embodying a spirit of resilience and adventure that inspired all who knew him. Beyond his professional pursuits, Townsie's love for dogs and draft horses shone brightly through the hours he joyfully spent with them, creating cherished memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who shared his passion. Townsie was the epitome of “Giver”. All people or animals were fed and covered up with a blanket before him. If there was left over food or a spare blanket, then he thought of himself. Post earthly life, Townsie’s giving soul provided eyes, tissue and bones to strangers in need. Never one to want to be in the limelight, he prided himself in being the “back line of defense” and was always willing to do the trench work to make the entire program successful. Those closest to him knew of his behind the scenes hard work and kept his secret safe. In the wake of Townsie's unexpected passing, we mourn the loss of a beloved husband to Kendra K. Allen, a dear brother to Gary Albert Allen, and ever-loving “fur-dad” to Possum, his Saint Bernard and the rest of the Barnyard Gang. His absence leaves a void in their lives that can never be filled. Townsie was preceded in death by his parents Charles Lee and Lona Maxine (Smith) Allen, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into eternal peace. As we bid farewell to Townsie, may we find comfort in the memories shared and the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy woven with threads of courage, love, and unwavering determination. In our hearts, he will forever remain an emblem of strength and a beacon of light guiding us through life's winding paths.
