Victor Hoops age 85, of Hamler, died early Tuesday morning at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.
His Legacy… Vic was born December 4, 1930 to Samuel F. and Emma Hoops in Deshler, Ohio the 9 th of 12 children. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On November 21, 1954 he married Jolaine Ann Dachenhaus. She died on October 7, 2011. He retired from Johns-Manville in Defiance. After retirement he helped his sons in Van Wert, Ohio at Universal Lettering Company. Vic was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
His Family… He is survived by children: Mark (Lana) Hoops Lima, Ohio Julie (Kevin) Niemeyer, Hamler and Cory Hoops, Van Wert; six grandchildren, Alex, Machal, Tyler, and Kathryn Hoops , Laurie (Derek) Powell, and Karley Niemeyer. And survived by Sisters Emma Brandt and Arlene McDougle, and brother Donald Hoops. He was preceeded in death by sisters : Marie Gerken, Norma Lienau Schwiebert, Louise Miller, Wilma Sonnenberg, And brothers Elroy Hoops, Edgar Hoops, Fred Hoops, Mel Hoops.
His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home on Friday from 3-8 pm and 1 hour before the service on Saturday. The Celebration of Vic’s Life will be on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 am in Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Contributions made in Vic’s memory can be made to Hope Lutheran Church, The Hamler Fire Department or Henry County South Ambulance District.
