Lowell E. Orthwein

Lowell Evan Orthwein age 83, of Holgate died Monday, February 28, 2022 at Vancrest of Holgate.

His Legacy… Lowell was born September 24, 1938 in Holgate. He graduated from Holgate High School in 1956 and enlisted with the United States Navy.   On April 7, 1968, he married Donna Gallagher. Lowell retired on January 1, 2001 from Tenneco Automotive after 35 years of service.  He was a member of the Holgate Volunteer Fire Department.  He was also a member of the New Bavaria AMVETS and a social member of the New Bavaria VFW.  Lowell thoroughly enjoyed his tomato plants year after year.

His Family… Lowell is survived by his wife, Donna Orthwein of 53 years of marriage, a sister Ruth Ann Welke, Oviedo, FL and a nephew, Kent Welke.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice and a nephew David Welke.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate on Saturday from 3-7:00 pm with a Fireman’s Last Call Service at 6:30 pm.  The Celebration of Lowell’s Life will be on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Township Cemetery, Road 16C.  Contributions in Lowell’s memory can be made to the Holgate Volunteer Fire Department.  Please visit ZachrichFuneralHome.com to leave online condolences.
